Great design. Gateway Laptops use a 3-prong power adapter. My previous laptop was a 2-prong Toshiba Laptop which I used the APC PNOTEPROC8 suppressor for years. Provides a “piece of mind” to prevent my laptop from getting fried during a power surge. California have risks of rolling blackouts and brownouts that can damage sensitive equipment. Product comes with a $75,000 guarantee against damage. Because this suppressor is plugged between the computer’s power cord the adapter and held tightly by a Velcro band (which I reinforce it with an additional small Velcro square), you can feel comfortable plugging directly into a wall outlet. I carried my to the Philippines and plugged into a 220 volt outlet and it worked flawlessly. Only complaint is the description on Amazon. The main description should include whether it is a 3-prong or 2-prong model. Another reviewer mistakenly ordered the wrong model because of this.

This little notebooksurge protector is very handy and when straped to your AC adapter, is completely our of the way. It provides the APC protection that a much larger product does. I would reccommend this to anyone that owns a notebook, it is well worth the price. I would not own any other power protection. APC is the number on in my house.

The APC PNOTEPROC6 is a fantastic surge protector for laptops. You don’t need this product if you use a surge protector strip or UPS at home. The value of this product is that it is a fully-featured surge protector that is small and light enough to use when traveling (after all, isn’t that why most people buy a laptop)? This is probably the best surge protector to use when traveling because, in addition to power surge protection, it also has inputs for your data lines (Ethernet, Phone Line, and Coaxial) to protect you from surges that come that way too. Therefore, it’s great when using your laptop in hotel rooms and such.
I bought my first one in 2004 with my brand new HP laptop and it served faithfully for 4 years until one day I smelled a burnt smell coming from the pnoteproc6. It appears that the surge protector sacrificed itself after a power surge in my house overnight. I called APC support and they were fantastic! The product has a full lifetime warranty so APC replaced my broken unit with a brand new one for free – no questions asked. I had to send back the old one so that they could confirm that it was from a power surge. They even paid for the shipping both ways! When I recently bought my new laptop I was so happy Acer/Gateway designed it with a 3-pin power supply so that I could happily continue to use my trusted PNOTEPROC6 (3-pin) instead of having to buy the pnoteproc8 (2-pin) or another 2-pin laptop surge protector.
APC is a worldwide recognized leader in UPS and surge protectors. They have a great product here that lives up to their reputation. They trust their product and that’s why they back it with a full lifetime warranty and will replace it for free if it is damaged by a power surge. It saved my laptop and myself a lot of money so I wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone that travels with their laptop.

I travel to Asia every year. Last year a surge in the local 220v supply killed my laptop AC adapter-charger. Luckily the laptop survived. The APC 100-240v surge protector is compact and easy to carry. I have not tried it in Asia but with APC’s name, I would trust it. The only problem is that this suppressor does not fit all Dell laptops. This one fits my Dell XPS 1330 but not my Inspiron M500 simply because in the former the female and male ends are in the form of a triangle but in the latter all in a straight line. I may change my rating to five stars after my next trip to India if it performs flawlessly.

This is the second one of these I`ve owned. Gave away the first one with an old laptop I sold to a friend. Item is small and light, won`t take up a lot of space in a laptop carrying case. Velcro strap is great for binding power cords together neatly. Have yet to use the network protection features, though.
Gave it only four stars because when the cable is clipped into the small notch on the body, the laptop`s power supply is practically impossible to plug in. Other than that, this item is EXCELLENT! Would defenitely buy again.
